Digital Domain Digital Domain of Venice, California, used Linux servers to aid in the CGI (computer generated image) process for the Oscar-winning film Titanic.
DreamWorks The animation studio has used Linux in the production of several of their top movies, including Shrek, Shrek 2, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, and Shark Tale.
Film: Sin City Director Robert Rodriguez pioneered the use of Dual Link, or "4:4:4" format in his film Sin City. The process used a Linux-based RaveHD DDR.
Weta Digital Weta Digital of New Zealand ran Red Hat Linux on hundreds of rackmounted servers to render images for the Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings films.
